Mother's Day

What a special day! My kids met me in the DR as Iwas putting the pup out at 6:20 a.m. they instructed me I was to go back to bed! They proceeded to bring Chris and I coffee and cinnamon sugar toast in bed! It was yummy (extra butter). Alan over slept so he helped with the 2nd helpings! Oh OK! They they brought me some cards and goodies they made for me! We had a pretty nice day. We went to church and had a simple lunch. Collin learned how to mow the lawn with the riding mower. We had some homemade pizza for dinner (veggie) YUM! Then Chris and I watched Eragon on PPV. I love that the kids thought of all the little goodies for me, brought me sleepers etc. Later our neighbor's neice came and took the kids on some horse rides. Very sweet! Here are some pics:

I know the date is wrong on my camera, when I change batteries it reverts back to 1/1/03. RATS.

There's a Baby in the House!

We had the priviledge of watching our friends' Mike and Staci's baby Brody last week! What a great time the kids, Chris and I had with the little guy. After passing the test (him testing us) we hope that Mike and Staci will let us watch him so they can go out on a date sometime soooooon! It was precious having a baby in the house after 5 years! He was never alone...sometimes he had all 4 kids catering to him!

We did not have a stroller, so we improvised. It was great fun!

I cannot remember what Chris and Brody are talking about here!

Brody likes mirrors! I think he knows how cute he is!

Erin's Show Tune: Gimme Dat Ding!

Elementary School Spring Concert...

I'm trying post a clip of Erin's solo in the spring concert. They did "novelty" or nonesense songs. It was a fun concert. Hans' class did "three little fishes" and then Erin's class did "supercalafagilisticexpialidosious" and 'bibbity bopety boo". Collin's class did Rag Mop and then Erin had a solo for the finale. Let's see how I do uploading it!

Rain, rain go away...

I am sorry and in prayer over the loss the people of the town of Greensburg have suffered. While we have been inconvenienced by persistent rain, muddy roads and tornado threats at least we have our home and health. We were headed for the basement when yesterday's tornado headed east instead of north out of Hutchinson. Well 24 hours later, the flood waters have hit Hutchinson, if you follow Cow Creek upstream from Hutch it has accumulated about 20 inches of rain plus run off! Now there is 6 feet of water going over 56th street in Hutchinson flooding some houses, churches and schools. Sigh. It sure has been a spring! The school actually called to see if we wanted the kids sent home early in case our roads were flooded shut. They were sending the country kids home. Fortunately for our kids, it did not flood our way yet, so they could stay at school. (Besides, I have finals to grade!)

I took the pic from kake.com news site.

Hoes, and Shovels and Wheelbarrows OH MY!

How to keep kids weeding the flower beds? Let them take the weeds to the ditch in the wheelbarrow and count how many times they do this. Between most of our flower beds and the area in the driveway that refuses to stop growing grass and weeds, I think we emptied 12 loads. The weather has been such that when we have the time, it's raining and when it is not raining we are doing other things. boy did we pay for it! Now if it can stay nice long enough for us to get it covered before more weeds take their places. lol.
Erin was our barrow master and she would climb in to empty it. Alan managed to sneak a ride at the end!

Lacy misses the kids...

When the bus comes in the morning all the excitement begins and ends in Lacy's world. She loves it if she is outside and can chase the kids to the bus. Mom does not love it because then I have to make a mad dash in my pj's and slippers to keep her from getting on the bus. So I try to keep her in the house. Yesterday she realized she was tall enough to look out the window. Don't worry they'll be home before you know it. Plus, summer is right around the corner. Clean up those dust bunnies while you are there Lacy!

The last of the spring birthdays...last but not least

Happy Day Hans! We celebrated with a fun party with his friends and then a fun family get together. He actually just had an extra cake from Grandma this past Sunday. Making the party last. Mrs. Hewitt's 1st grade do such a cute job of making a kid cake! Hans is in the middle, the candles in the circle closest to him and then the cake are the kids on the outside. Very precious!
